What an amazing day!! I was able to bear witness to some of my closest friends taking an important step in their relationship, confirming their love and commitment in a beautiful ceremony. Friends, family, and community members were central to the ceremony and reception, which seemed to be not only a celebration of Sasha and Miki, but also of the community they have built around them.
Photos soon!
After the exquisite ceremony in Shakeseare's garden in Golden Gate Park, the reception was held at the Cliff House, a very nice resuaurant right on the ocean cliffs (thus the name!). I performed a bellydance for the newlyweds and the community which gathered to celebrate the wedding.
Right after my dance, I changed my clothes to my traveling outfit and had to leave the wedding immediately to catch my flight out of California. My friend Jay is the speediest safe driver I know, so I asked him and his noble steed Scooby to be my chariot to the airport. We made great time to the airport (although I think I talked Jay's ears off and probably Scooby's too-- you al know how I can get going when I am excited/nervous) and I made it on the plane with a few minutes to spare!

About Me
- Ruby Reid, MSW
- I am currently pursuing a PhD in Social Welfare at Berkeley, concentrating in local, national and international responses to large-scale disasters, wars, and genocide. To me, social work is not a job. It is a way of life, a faith, and a daily practice. My mother is a social worker and I was instilled with social work values as a young child. I carry those values of respect and compassion for other human beings, the importance of service and integrity, and these values lead me to endorse Barack Obama for President of the United States. Barack Obama represents a new and positive vision for the future of America. He is honest, hard-working, and unafraid to face the nuanced and complex problems of our country and our interconnected world. I am proud to support a candidate who will truly bring change for the American people and for all members of the world community.
